About the book
Thomas Barr is a young golfer with lots of potential who is short on professional accomplishments. He is an every man’s professional golfer playing in the National Open. As often happens in the Open with its bunched field, he barely makes the cut and then has a hot round on Saturday. Because his low score is posted early on Saturday he almost guaranteed to be in the final group for the final round. What awaits him in the final round is a paring with one of the most accomplished and feared golfers on the planet, Cyrus Steele.
Cyrus is a crowd favorite because of his victories, but he also has some quirks to how he competes that many fans miss. Regardless, Cyrus brings the fans, which brings the ratings, which brings the money to the sport. The other players all know of his antics and even a rookie like Thomas is aware that his final round may not include much idle chit chat.
Thomas meets his first challenge before the round even starts when his regular caddy is lost overnight with a bout of food poisoning. He is stuck grabbing one of the oldest local caddies who did not get a bag for the week because of his age and because of his unique personality. The caddy, nicknamed “Foot” agrees to work with Tom and for a time Tom is not sure if he has made the right choice.
Fortunately for Tom, Foot has a game plan for Tom, and that is to help him Find Big Mo. Foot knows that Tom needs to adjust to being paired with Cyrus, but he is more concerned with helping Tom avoid a series of Beasts that live at different places on the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links. His challenge is to guide Tom’s body and mind in the pressure packed final round to help him potentially achieve one of the great upsets in recent golfing history.
Readers will get an inside look at how caddies and players work together to play well under extreme pressure, and how golf can be a metaphor for life in our constant search for finding and keeping momentum.
As you finish the story, the question is where is Big Mo in your life, and how can you spread it to others.
Do you Have Big Mo?
